Married life hasn’t always been easy for Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo.
The couple reflected on a difficult period they faced shortly after exchanging vows in 2016, which led to some major soul searching for both of them.

“There was a time in our life, very early on in our marriage, where we experienced some… I describe it as deep betrayal,” Jeremy, 37, explained during the July 30 episode of the Jinger & Jeremy Podcast. “You have relationships in your life that ground you, and when those shake or are removed, you feel like, ‘What am I doing?””
“This was a moment when we were both very deeply unsettled,” he continued. “We both felt that shaking.”
Although the retired soccer player-who shares kids Felicity, 6 and Evangeline, 4, and Finnegan, 4 months, with Jinger, 31-didn’t specify the nature of the alleged betrayal, he revealed that he and his wife navigated the trying time in their relationship by turning to their faith leaders for guidance.
With the turbulence behind them, Jeremy detailed how their lives have changed since then seemingly for the better.
“It’s eight years on,” he said. “We’re in Los Angeles. We have friends who are family to us. We have a deep community that we’re invested and involved in. We have everything we didn’t have in that moment, and yet, those years were necessary.”
And Jinger was quick to note that the experience had a profound impact on her bond with her husband.
“For us as newlyweds, it was huge because we were able to draw closer to each other,” she shared. “We felt like so close throughout our relationship [and] early marriage, but that was a deepening and a whole different level when you walk through pain and hardship together.”
