Welcome To Plathville star Olivia Plath recently opened up on the Positively Uncensored podcast about the origin of the show. She explained how the franchise emerged when the Duggars were already “phasing out” of the reality TV world. Hence, she and Ethan had discussions with the network before they actually agreed to make a show. The celeb added, “And it was like, look at this happy family, there’s now an opening for this kind of show.”

Olivia further explained how there was an “opening” for a large fundamental family on the network. But here comes the twist. Apparently, the so-called opening was for a family that had kids smiling and playing instruments like a big happy family. The dynamics were required to be “polished and great.”

This is the reason why Olivia and Ethan were sure about the idea of the Welcome To Plathville show because they knew that they weren’t a “happy family.” Olivia further noted that Ethan discussed how their family was full of “manipulation” and they weren’t even allowed to see the latter’s siblings.
