Elizabeth Ricci, Partner at Rambana & Ricci, also shed light on the matter. She noted that Gino’s still married to Jasmine, and he sponsored her K1 visa. She said, “considered the putative father [of her child], regardless of paternity, under Michigan law.” A putative child generally means a man whose relationship with the child has not been established.

Hence, Gino could be liable for the baby’s expenses and all the unpaid hospital bills. Jasmine’s pregnancy with Matt could have also affected her visa process.
